The Slim Margin of Success
The difference between winning and losing is sometimes very slight. There were eight finalists in the men’s 100-meter dash at the 1976 Olympics. The Gold Medal winner beat the eighth man by less than half a second.
There are five million people engaged in selling in America . Can you imagine what our gross national product would be if each of them had made just one more sale last year? In sports, business, politics, or Scouting, winning isn’t everything, but it sure beats losing.

Bear Grylls Quote
Bear Grylls Quote
‘Every child has the right to an adventure. Life is about grabbing opportunities. The prizes don’t always go to the biggest, the best and the strongest – they go to those who persevere. These are simple life lessons that Scouting teaches.’

Bear Grylls Quote
‘Two things matter in life: following your dreams and looking after your friends. This is what I love about Scouting. It’s about doing great things, loving and enjoying the great adventures and helping others to do the same.’

‘Scouting’s 500,000 members are an inspiration. It's great to see it. It's all about friendship and fun and adventure – people who might not normally have the chance for adventure. Scouts are shining lights in their communities.’

Pearls of Wisdom—Quotes from Baden-Powell
"The study of nature brings into a harmonious whole the question of the infinite, the historic and the microscopic as part of the Great Creator's work. And in these, sex and reproduction play an honoured part."

Pearls of Wisdom—Quotes from Baden-Powell
"Nature study should not be the mere formal class teaching of the school, but the interested pursuit of each individual girl in that branch of it which particularly appeals to her, through practical handling and dealing with it."

Pearls of Wisdom—Quotes from Baden-Powell
"When a Wolf Cub hears the words "Nature study" his first thought is about school collections of dried leaves, but real Nature study means a great deal more than this; it means knowing about everything that is not made by man, but is created by God."

This Will Make You Feel Better
If you sometimes get discouraged, consider this fellow:
He dropped out of grade school, ran a country store, went broke, spent 15 years paying off his bills, married, became unhappy in his marriage, ran for the House of
Representatives and lost twice, ran for the Senate and lost twice, delivered a speech that left his audience indifferent but later became a classic, was attacked daily by the press and despised by half the country.
Despite all this, imagine how many people all over the world have been inspired by this awkward, rumpled, brooding man who signed his name simply A. Lincoln.
